For more than three decades, Jerry Ayoub, founder of Five Star Development, a leading real estate development company headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., has been one of the industry’s most innovative and successful entrepreneurs. Ayoub’s projects range from five-star hospitality and luxury retail projects to high-end, multimillion dollar residential and Class-A industrial projects throughout Arizona, California, Texas and New Mexico.
Ayoub's record for success extends to the early days of his career in the luxury duty-free industry when he established operations on the U.S. borders of Mexico and Canada. Ayoub independently established and operated a half-dozen successful companies - including the duty-free business which grew to become the nation’s largest duty-free operation in North America with a presence in Europe and Mexico. This conglomerate dominated ship channeling and distribution to airports nationwide, while also serving as an exclusive importer for most luxury brands. Product categories ranged from world-renowned designer goods, including fine jewelry, accessories, perfume and ready- to-wear, to refined spirits. Some of the brands represented included Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Hermès, Chanel, Gucci and Lalique.
Founded in 1985, Five Star has developed more than 20 million square feet of residential, hospitality, retail, office and industrial real estate. Ayoub’s vision for the company has always been to combine the most innovative development practices with technologically advanced systems that are cutting-edge and environmentally sustainable. Simultaneously, Ayoub has earned a reputation as a visionary whose expertise includes introducing unique, dynamic and new experiences to varying markets with viability, quality and brand integrity being the paramount focus. Now a family business, Ayoub’s daughters Krizia and Francesca, founders of Dolce Vita Development, work alongside the Five Star team as the next generation assisting with the design vision and retail leasing.
Ayoub’s latest project is The Palmeraie®, an ultra-luxury retail and dining destination, that sits on 18 acres at the border of Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, Arizona’s most affluent zip code. Home to more than 100 exceptional boutiques, The Palmeraie® will include a dozen dining destinations featuring celebrated international chefs, along with local and regional talent.
